LooUQ is in a beautiful corner of northwestern Michigan, we are genuinely thankful for all this planet provides us. We also take it as a responsibility: give the planet to future generations in the best condition we can.
LooUQ was founded to create IoT technology, but with the belief that this technology could be integral to helping industrial and agricultural processes operate in new, more sustainable ways. With better understanding of remote device conditions, organizations can make better use of water, energy, and other finite resources. While the tech is cool stuff to build and play with, building a more sustainable future has always been a driving reason why we want to build it.
From the start, LooUQ has attempted to be sustainable. To first reduce our footprint, where possible reuse what is already available and then if all else fails… recycle to make something else with minimal resources.
LooUQ’s Internal Efforts
In our daily operations, we strive to reduce materials and energy usage. We have a policy to repurpose packaging materials to the extent possible. We do this whenever the reuse doesn’t compromise the protection required to ship the LooUQ products without harm. And as many of you do as well, we recycle our consumables with our municipality.
For the design and manufacture of our LooUQ devices there are several principals we apply to be as low-impact as possible.
We adhere to eco-friendly standards such as ROHS and are lead-free in our assembly processes.
LooUQ attempts to source materials and manufacturing as near to home as possible. Our modems are assembled in Michigan.
We strive to use easily recyclable materials in our product packaging, over single use plastics to the extent possible. We attempt to source as locally as possible and to minimize our consumption of first-use materials; instead selecting packaging and other materials containing recycled content whenever we can to help build markets for recycled materials.
We reuse package materials we receive from our suppliers to the extent possible. If you need only first-use packaging when you order from use, please let us know when your are completing the ordering process.
Technology Can Enable Sustainability
LooUQ helps promotes green industries and the use of IoT to improve sustainability by helping customers create products that lower energy use, reduce water usage, extending property life without replacement, and reduce waste through the prescribed application of resources. Our staff provides mentoring to individual and startups in eco-friendly efforts like fresh-water conservation.
Many of our product tutorials and guides illustrate eco-friendly uses of our products to teach and inspire. Technology can help build to a more sustainable future, one piece towards this complex but vital need.
